Redefining the basics

How would you know it, if you were never taught it?
It’s not a secret that health, wellness, mental health, fitness and nutrition isn’t being covered in schools like it should be. Which, is really sad.
In order for us to apply the skills we learn in school we need to be HEALTHY to do so. You follow?! ...Let me explain... we go to school for years to learn the basics and then we continue to hone in on our specialities and spend $$$ (a lot) to do so. Finally we graduate with our degree go out in the world to work to only find out that we haven’t been taking care of ourselves so now we get sick and take sick days, more often than we would like; or we are in chronic pain because we sit all day at our desk but we don’t know how to help ourselves (because we were never taught). So we just keep the cycle going until we cannot take it any longer, we go to our medical community and they slip a script to us for an anti inflammatory and tell us to check back in a few days. Never being educated themselves on how to fix the root problem in the first place. Did you know the average medical student gets LESS than 7 hours total of education on nutrition/fitness? 🤯🤬 don’t even get me started. 😤
THEN... We shame others for not working out, not eating properly , etc but what if they were never taught how or why it’s so important? The shame takes over and they never reach out for help because they are embarrassed. That’s NOT okay. I’m a big believer that knowledge is power and that if we are given the information and tools we can accomplish anything we want too! My favorite part of job is when I see the “light bulb” go off. When I can tell the information I’ve given them clicks and makes sense and now they understand or can do what they didn’t before. If you are struggling right now to figure out how to safely exercise or aren’t sure how to have a balanced nutrient diet find a EDUCATED + certified coach in your area to help you. If you feel ashamed or have been bullied for your weight or whatever - just remember that isn’t your issue it’s theirs and they can get the eff out of your way. Treat yourself to learning and enjoying what healthy FEELS like.
